Mercia-one of the kingdoms of the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy

Mercia Marina is the largest inland marina in Europe and is situated on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Willington, Derbyshire, UK.

The majority of the narrow boats we saw were for sale. I might put my name down for one of those if I win the lotto!

The marina has numerous unique sculptures, notably the Bird of Happiness, which stands over 7ft tall and is cast in bronze. Simon Gudgeon created the design. He was inspired by the abundance of wildfowl in the marina. In addition, there are gift shops, bars, and restaurants. I’m thinking of returning right before Christmas to do some shopping.
